the final of EAB 1

my eab 1 class at university of calgary was awsome. i have learned a lot in that course. our teacher taught us many things. althogh it was difficult, but we learned. I think my english now is better. the grammer lessons are very useful. also, we learned how to write a perfect paragraph with clear topic sentence, apropriate supporting sentences, and a good concoulosion sentence. we learned how to write many types of paragraph such as a description paragraph, a procces paragraph and a definishion paragraph. last thing we learned is how to write an essay, and that was very hard. i hope we don't have to write an eassy in the final exam. also, reading and listening were very useful.
i could have many friends from differen countries. we had an interesting time together. in addition, the hertiage day party was very nice, and i met other students from eab 2 and eab 3 class.
after one week we will have the final exam, and i hope everybody do well in the exam. i wish that it be easy for all.

i would like to thank our teacher Scott. he really tried for us, and he is an excellent teacher.

writing storm

writing storm, this is a strategy that our teacher Scott had taught us. it is a very very useful way for writing practice. really at the beginning of my course, I didn't use to like writing and I was feel like writing is a disaster. Up to know I find difficulty when I start to write but with the writing storm strategy writing became something not bad for me but at least it is not a disaster.

The writing storm strategy is as the follow.
First, prepare a fresh piece of paper. Then start to write for 5 minutes continuously. don't stop writing. just keep writing for 5 minutes and write any thing don't care of spelling or grammar or any thing. Also, don't make any correction even if you made a mistake. simply, keep writing and don't take the pen off from your paper for 5 minutes. After 5 minute exactly, count your words and record it in a schedule. You will observe increasing in you numbers of words each time you do this practice. After one month of practice, your writing will be better. This strategy also useful to do brain storm in order to get ideas about specific subject that you would like to write about.

Really, it is such very good practice to improve writing skills.

Dreams

There are three major types of dreams. Happy dreams and sad dreams and also forgotten dreams. I don't think there in anybody haven't had the previous kinds of dreams. The difference is what kind of dreams usually someone has the most. Some people have happy dreams. On the other hand, there are people like me rarely remember their dreams. Or the events in their dreams I think, the personality and psychology of someone influenced in her or his dreams. Also, the way of someone's thinking extremely affected in the type of dreams he or she have. For example, the person who thinks in a positive way usually has. Happy dreams and this person has much happiness than the person who thinks in a negative way. This person will usually has bad dreams and that will influence in his life. As a result, he will be more not optimistic and will suffer of much of anxious and sadness in his life. However, because there are many sorts in life we must tried, so people usually have those major types of dreams or may be the more types.

200 Years Later

200 years later, there will be various changes in the world, let's imagine some of those changes. One of the changes in my opinion that I think there will be no esl or eap classes. Do you imagine that. Instead of that there will be such as memory bells for english learning (^ْ^)
We will not need for any books, classes, assignment , or blogs for practice. All you need just taking some of those bells and you will be flounce in english :D
Do you think that will be possible ???!!
Seriously, I think there will be no any need for coins or paper for exchange or pay. The pay way will be by digital technology. For example, you will need to use cards or your mobile. Isn't that so exciting, all people will need just use their mobile to pay. Ii think this way will be very interesting. I think this way will be very useful in order to decrease thefts.

Those are just some imaginary thoughts about the future , but they are not impossible.

Holidays around the world

People around the world celebrate in different holidays. In Canada, I have been in different holidays such as Thanksgiving, Halloween, and Christmas. Nowadays, people are prepared to celebrate in Christmas. I was interested in all of the holidays in Canada. They are ver interesting.
In my country, we have two big holidays. The first one is called " eid al-fiter". It goes at the ninth month of Islamic calendar. People celebrate in the first three days of the month. They visit each other and participate the greetings together. Special dishes of food is made. The heroes of this eid are children. Adults usually gave out some cute and nice gifts for them. Candy and chocolate are common in this holidays. The second holiday is called " eid al – adha". It is a special Holiday for all Muslims. It goes in the last month of Islamic calendar. In this holiday, Muslims usually sacrificed at the ninth day of the month. Then they are celebrate and greet each other. Different kinds of food are prepared for this holiday such as kabssah and ma'amool. Eid al-adha will come after less than 2 weeks from now.

Madain Salih (Building a miracle)

Hi everybody...,,
during the recently last weeks, we got a great deal of information about art and ancient art in Egypt & Greek. Really I excited about those articles which talked about pyramids and sculpture. And how the archeologies tried to analyze each piece from that time in order to know

[ how those people lived,,,,

[ what customs they had,,,,

[ how those people were thinking and what their beliefs in life,,,,

really that was so amazing for moments I felt like I had been in that world. All that persuade me to know more about ancient art, so I read about another ancient art that is located in my country - Saudi Arabia -. It is the ancient art in Madain Salih. And here is some interesting information about it.
Madain Salih

it is located in the North West of Saudi Arabia near to Al-Madina ( a famous city in Saudi Arabia). It's old name is Alhijer. It considers as stone homes because people who lived there tried to dig mountains and created houses for them inside the mountains. They were super creative in doing that. They built amazing houses inside the mountains and lived there for many years. Actually, that was a pre-islamic archaeological site. A majority of the houses date from the Nabatean kingdom( 1st century B.C.E), another sources tell of an earlier statement of the area by the tribe of Thamoud in the 3rd millennium B.C.E. By the time, those site became tombs and temples for other tribes.

Jabal Ithlib
One of the Obvious features is a religious area, known as Jabal Ithlib. there is a sculpture within the Rock Hall, called a large open court, surrounded by two columns and some of the terraces on stone and because of North wind faced no sunlight, and some suggest this place is deep security and calm, making the place solemn, and give climbing a mountain fascinating scene to Madain Saleh.

Outside the palace painted girls and snakes in the form of a triangle to represent the keeper of the grave, and this is an example of the impact of Greek art Nabati, the building stopped suddenly for completing the construction of this tomb, which gives us a look at the technique of Construction, which was from top to bottom.

Actually, there are more of amazing archecultuer in Madain Salih, it's really one of the wonderfull ancint arts in the world.

10$ million dollars

Imagine that you just won 10$ million dollars, what will you do? What would you like to buy? Would you save some money, or give some to charity?

In the beginning, I would like to tell you about a funny story I heard about the origin of money. The story says, a money is word came from Latin language means " Goose". However, there was a village in Rome had a lot of treasures. Then, the thieves tried to attack the treasures in the midnight when the people was sleeping, it wasn't a watchman but the geese that heard them. The geese immediately started honking which made it possible for the Romans to defined their treasures. That's the story as I heard it.

Now, I imagine that I won 10$ million dollars $$$$ waaaow $$. [ what would I like to do? Actually I think I don't need all that amount of money in my life. If I have and there are people can't eat enough food, there are people can't sleep in a warm house. and maybe there are other people possible get die because of extreme poverty. I think this isn't fair. So, I hope everyone in the world lives a decent life. I want to give a half of that money to charity. Then I want to buy a big House for all my family. Also, I hope to travel to all beautiful places in the world. Finally, maybe I'll save just small amount of money because I won't live forever. So, I want to enjoy ;)

Do you think that's right??
In my opinion, I think this moral is very realistic. Because everybody wants to live a good life and free life. We just live once, so we are supposed to have a comfortable life even if we just have few things. Happiness doesn't depend on money. Does it??


# " Look before you leap "

You should be careful in your steps. You have to think about possible results before you step any step . because your position in the future is connected with your present leap. "a step" is an important word, and we have to think delicately about it. Certainly, all our lives is the result of steps that we have taken in life.



# " You can't please everyone "

I liked this moral the best. I think it means " just live your life". People have different opinions. Everybody lives in his own way, and if you tried to live as his way, might other people will not be pleased with you, so why?? If you are living comfortably, that's fine. By the way, they never will live as you like and they never live your life, so just be honest with yourself and enjoy your life.

The Way of Thinking

have you ever been in a coplex prblem, and you coudn't know what you should do. I think every body might be in a problem. and some people coudn't past it as their life has stopped there. but the question is why ?? why might those people feel sadness immidiatly when they fell in any. A problem itself is not terrible. the terrible when you give up. The way of thinking is imprtant to be best. Tell yourself words you see they may help you, What i mean that you have to talk with yourself by possetive words and you will be able to solve the problem.
Sometimes problems make us stronger. they like a challenge, and you can overcome it. because you have a long life and problems are temporary. in the following days, you will be happy, just see yourself as best. all you need to do is explain the problem to yourself and for sure there are solutions. Believe in yourself and start too find out the ideal way to solve it, and you could change it.

We are learning, so we don't have to push ourself too hard. just be yourself and keep yourself fit. Be proud of yourself. And be careful, the way you think becomes your behavior, and your bahavior becomes your habits. See how our thoughts are too imprtant to live best life. So, just be an OPTIMIST.
And why don;t you try to eat some icecream :) >> I'm just kidding
by the way, that what i do when i fell depressed, it makes me feel better.

A Happy Beginning

Hi everybody 
I am Ashjan, and I am from Saudi Arabia. I am glad to studying with you. I am married. I have a bachelor degree in chemistry. I know that some of you hate chemistry. I have been in Calgary for 5 months. I wish learning English help us to communicate with each other. I had been studying in ESL in last Spring and Summer. Now, I have started studying English in EAP. I am very excited to start this new class. My teacher is Scott, he is very active and smart.
Calgary is very beautiful city. I liked it, the fall is very amazing. The colour of trees is very nice. I like looking at the moon. It's view is very imaging. People here are very kind, smiling. I visited Banff 3 month ago. It is very beautiful, I recommend everybody to go there. I hope to go to Vancouver, my friends told me about it, they praise it so much.
Fainally, I wish best wishes for all. And I hope we benefit and have an interesting time together. I think the EAP has more serious than the ESL program, but that will help us to be perfect ( in sha'a allah).
